This afternoon there were 3 HORNED GREBES on a small lake in Miami Lakes. This is the same lake where the Long-tailed Duck found by Angel and Mariel was seen last year. Directions: Exit NW154 st. west Miami Lakes Dr on 826 make first left (77 CT) then follow road alongside the canal to 146 ST. make right and go to stop sign. Lake should be right in front of you at this point. Go to parking lot of the business park on left for a good vantage point.

Other ducks/grebes included N. SHOVELER (2), GADWALL (3), RING-NECKED DUCK (15), MOTTLED DUCK (2), LESSER SCAUP (9), RUDDY DUCK (5), PIED-BILLED GREBE (8)

There were several birds too far out to id, so it is definitely worth a visit with a scope.

I don't what it is about this lake that the birds like but waterfowl seem to be drawn to it.
