Great question. This brings to mind the records of Marsh Harrier from Puerto Rico. There were two different individuals seen in 2004 and 2006 in the exact same place (Laguna Cartagena); these were the second and third records for the Western Hemisphere). What are the chances of two individuals flying all the way across the Atlantic and ending up in the same wetland in separate years? And then in 2008, an Aplomado Falcon showed up at the same place, the first contemporary record of this species in the West Indies. Microhabitat vagrancy patterns are fascinating and confusing.
