There is a public access along 880 where there is also an observation platform. From there you can walk around cell 6 of STA-1W. I've attached a map of where the access area is located.

I've done bird surveys in all the STAs and I would say that 1W has good numbers of waterfowl but I think the diversity is much better in STA-5. That seems to be true for all bird groups. There is something about STA-5 that attracts more lost birds than the others. Of course water levels are the most important thing and the south portion of STA-1W can be really good in lower water levels because that area is slightly higher than the rest of the cell. The public access area of STA-3/4 can be very good too.
