The 2011 number is 1805 pairs in Michigan. The Michigan population currently seems fairly stable. Small numbers are now also breeding in Wisconsin and Ontario.
In 1974, only 167 singing males were found. As we saw during the 2010 TAS trip to see the warbler, the current success is due to a combination of habitat restoration (which has to be continual under current land usage) and cowbird control.
