It's always fun to see a new bird around, but most of us are not excited that this exotic species seems to be expanding its range in south Florida. They've even been reported well inside Everglades National Park on several occasions. In some areas of Europe they have already reached nuisance levels. At the lake behind the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Belgium I estimated 350 Egyptian Geese this summer. The noise and mess were quite disgusting. For the sake of our native wildlife, let's hope they can be kept under control in Florida.
