After work we hit up the park with hopes of scoring something new for the day. We noticed Arch Creek was open so we took a walk around. On the boardwalk we found several small owl pellets but did not see the Owl. A bunting spp. buzzed near the boarwalk but we did not see it either. As we walked along the canal we heard a SUMMER TANAGER, looked up and found an adult female munching on some fruit. A BROAD-WINGED HAWK flushed out of an Oak tree and flew right over our heads, close call! As far as warblers goes we only picked up an AMERICAN REDSTART to add to our day total. Migrants are definately around but you have to work hard to see them in numbers.

A front is working its way south and should trigger a massive migration event in the NE tonight as well as tomorrow night. With favorable weather south of the front we expect another push of migrants for the weekend. Make sure to visit Badbirdz2 for your birding forecast as well as to watch birds fly south on radar.

Nature is Awesome
