Black-hooded parakeets

12 Black-hooded parakeets appeared in Pine Glen Park Coral Springs. This is a first for this area. Noisy, garrulous, colorful, and voracious feeders from bird feeders.

I can't recall seeing any reports on this bird in this area. It must be the longed-for migration.

And at Hoechoka Hammock the spotted sandpiper has returned for the winter. It shows no fear and mingles in with the mottled and wood ducks.

Dove numbers are increasing rapidly.

And I had cause to be at St. Anthony Church and found ground dove feeding in the swales for several blocks going east from the front door of the church. I have not seen ground dove in that area for decades.
