Hi All,
The Fall meeting of the Florida Ornithological Society will be held October 14th through 16th at Dolphin Island, Alabama. This will be a special joint meeting with the Alabama Ornithological Society. The keynote speaker will be Jon Dunn presenting "Flyways, Migrations and Shorebirds" during the Saturday evening banquet. Jon Dunn is the Chief Consultant/Editor of the National Geographic Society's Field Guide to the Birds of North America. Field Trips during the mornings will focus on shorebirds and fall migrants including trips to Fort Pickens (FL.), Fort Morgan (AL.) and Dolphin Island (AL.). Numerous rarities have been found at these sites in the past such as Green-tailed Towhee, Fork-tailed Flycatcher & Yellow Wagtail. Ft. Pickens is one of the best places to find Groove-billed Anis during the fall in Florida. Saturday afternoon will feature a student paper competition dealing with Southeastern bird biology and consercation. You do not need to be a member to attend and birder of all experience levels are welcome.
