Just when I go to make my first post here in months, I stumble on this one...
Anyway, what I was going to say was that at 8 am today when I was launching my kayak(via the jetty parking lot) at Black Point, I heard, but did not see at least 2 mangrove cuckoos calling(croaking?). Like the bonefish I was seeking, they did not afford me a look, crippling or otherwise. They were calling constantly during the 30 or so minutes it took me to unload my kayak and paddle it to where the mangrove tunnel ends.I've heard mangrove cuckoos there before, but rarely much after first light.I assume I was hearing the same birds Toe saw and photographed.
