Jeanette and I arrived at Bill Baggs State Park on Key Biscayne at 10:00 AM this morning hoping to find the Connecticut Warbler, but instead, we were greeted with a "mini fallout of Warblers. The variety wasn't so spectacular, but the quantities were impressive. "More warblers than flies on a dead dog" were seen along the paved bike path from the N. parking lot to the south parking lot bathrooms. Many warblers were not ID due to their constant movement and thick vegetation. We thought we located a possible Connecticut Warbler 200 ft. south of the Lighthouse Grill in the wooded median strip between the 2 parking lots. The bird was constantly on the move in the under-story and was observed running through the weeds. It was larger than a Common Yellow-throat and appeared to have a grayish head and no yellow throat. Good observations were tough to get, so we decided to make this observation questionable. However, we were not disappointed when Roxanne called us after she spotted a male Connecticut Warbler by the wooden walkway in the woods at A. D. Barnes Park on her lunch break. Thank You, Roxanne, for finding this great bird and sharing it with us.
