Hi Matt,
I live in Santa Barbara also but grew up in Hollywood, FL, just south of Ft. Lauderdale. I was there after Christmas and also was looking for some of those birds. John Hutchison who frequently reports on this Birdboard helped me find the Spot-breasted Oriole at Evergreen Cemetery in Ft. Lauderdale (do you have Birdseye app?) It is off of 15th St. along a canal. On the third trip I found them. Funny, because these birds were all over the place when I was growing up. Now they are hard to find but that is a pretty reliable place. Just across the canal where the cemetery is are some bottle brush trees and that is where I actually found three of them, along with a ton of other birds, including a wintering female Summer Tanager. Really great place and the people in that area are very friendly and will help you.
Snail kites can pretty reliably be found at the entrance to Loxahatchee in Palm Beach county. I found two there in January and was able to photograph a juvenile one. I met John near the Ft. Laud airport and he says he was the last to see the Ani there. We did not see it that day and I missed it. It has been popping up at Royal Palm in the Everglades in the early morning but not reliably. Not too long ago on this board a woman from St. Lucy county posted a picture of one she had in her yard. Go figure. I never have seen the Antillean Nighthawk but understand that it shows up at the Key West airport. Maybe others can report better on that one.
GOod luck!
Daniel B
