I agree with Alex, Bartlett and Bartlett (University of Florida Press, 2003) is the way to go!

Alan Tennant, renowned author of "On The Wing" also published several great field guides which focus on the snakes of North America, Texas, and Florida. For Florida there are two editions: Gulf Publishing, 1997, and Taylor Trade Publishing, 2003.

The Bartletts have published more books on herps than any other expert in the field. I use to own a copy of their book "A Field Guide to Florida Reptiles and Amphibians (Excluding Snakes)" (Gulf Publishing, 2003) which I beat up in the field and then gave away to a fellow grad student back in the day. It's now out-of-print and the only available copy in Amazon sells for $150.00.
