At 1:45pm I stopped by the Sem-chi Rice plant off CR880 and was allowed to walk behind plant to scope the blackbirds after signing a waiver, receiving my badge and having an escort. All very nice but it was clear that we aren't allowed on the property unless we sign-in, etc. I'm not sure if an escort was a rule or they were just being nice. (refer to old post of Feb 19 TAS field trip for directions to this spot)
Out of about 3000+ blackbirds I had 2K Red-wings,1K Brown-headed Cowbirds, few Boat-tailed Grackles, 6 Yellow-headed (4 females, 2 males all perched on the main plant structure) then saw 2 females behind on the rice mound but could be the same ones?? that were on the plant structure. No Bronze or Shiny Cowbirds could be found by me.
