Hey, really guys. All this venom over abbreviations is not typical of the TAS crowd.
I hate to say it but whoever he is may be right.
These abbreviations, while they may save the writer a second or two (or less because you need to make everything in caps), are really inconvenient for the reader who has to mentally go through a whole list of bird names before hitting on the right one. It makes posts hard to read, and if you are skimming for interesting sightings, makes them easy to miss. When are we going to start using text message lingo to save even more keystrokes? Your English teacher would have never approved.
