While I considered the vast black market trade in exotic animals in Florida, I do not believe the bird we saw was "spot-on" for juvenile Nutmeg Mannikin. The bill was not as stout and the shape of the head was rounder as well as having a rounder, plump-like body; not longer and slender like the mannikin. The juvenile Nutmeg Mannikin appears to have a lighter, buffier belly with some spotting. The bird we saw was a uniform brown color.
