Several birders showed up around 7am this morning, but did not get convincing evidence that the BLACK-FACED GRASSQUIT was there. At around 10am, Leo Miller briefly saw the bird, then at about 10:35am I relocated the bird close where Leo had seen it. The bird was singing for at least 20 minutes from between 1-2ft off the ground in the scrub and every birder present got SPECTACULAR looks from between 4-12ft. It was astounding that the bird did not mind the noise we were making.

To get to the spot where the bird was singing, proceed to the end of the boardwalk, make a 180 degree turn and walk back along the left hand side of the rail. This will lead to a short trail (maybe 50ft long). When the trail opens up and turns soggy, stop and look south. The spot where the bird was singing was about 20ft to the SE.
