Subject: [FLBIRDS] Black-faced Grassquit
On the morning of March 21 Chuck Weber (CW) and Marvin Greenberg(MG)identified an immature, male, Black-faced Grassquit in the Jupiter Ridge Natural Area.
The bird was initially heard singing and then briefly seen on and near the ground in the brush. MG videotaped the singing bird. It was found at the boardwalk entrance area near the #2 marker
The Grassquit was reseen the morning of March 24 by CW, MG, Brian Hope (BH) and Pinya Cohen. Again, it was heard before it was seen moving low in the brush within 10-20 yards of both sides of the boardwalk entrance. BH was also able to videotape the bird.
Directions to the Jupiter Ridge Natural Area: Proceed to the Donald Ross Rd exit north of W. Palm Beach. Go east to Federal Highway (U.S. Route 1) and take a left (north) approximately two miles to the site on the left (west side)
which is marked by a brown sign with white letters. Parking is available.
