We birded the same areas on Sunday afternoon and can add a White-crowned Sparrow in the southeastern corner of Lucky Hammock. We flushed the bird out of the grass in the corner of the hammock while trying to find the Brown-crested Flycatcher, which was vocalizing but hidden from view at the time. The Brown-crested Flycatcher would later show itself in close proximity to a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. The beautiful Flycatchers were almost side by side in the afternoon glow. We also observed several stunning Eastern Palms.
Our stroll down Anhinga Trail was alive with great birds. There was a Limpkin feeding at the small bridge even underneath it at times. The crazy numbers of Purple Gallinule was awesome. We also heard the Ani several times calling from the vegetation at the gator overlook.
Nature is Awesome,
Angel & Mariel
