I just checked the e-Bird sightings maps, which although underutilized are useful. There are reported sightings of Short-billed Dowitchers at STA-5 in winter in 4 of the last 5 years. That certainly doesn't guarantee the ones I saw were Short-billed, but suggests that it's not unreasonable to expect them at STA-5. I don't have a zoom camera, and as such I have no photos of the birds. They were at the end of the first impoundment as you go straight coming into STA-5, and close to the beginning of the second impoundment, following that straight line.
