Only a tiny sliver of West Lake (at the lake's western end, visible only from the boardwalk) is within the Coot Bay CBC circle, so any species seen from the boat ramp area cannot be included in the tally.

CBC participants covering Coastal Prairie Trail haven't formally submitted their CBC results, but they didn't mention to me that they had seen or heard Clapper Rail, Barred Owl, Whip-poor-will or Lesser Nighthawk, so those species may be included in CBC results. The Barn Owl at the Buttonwood Canal bridge may also be eligible. Unless told otherwise, I will assume that only one of each of these species were tallied. Numbers of Marsh and Sedge Wrens and Nelson's Sparrows tallied would also be appreciated.

Anyone who was within the Coot Bay CBC circle yesterday is encouraged to post their sightings, including number of individuals seen. Unusual species seen during count week (December 30-January 5) would also be appreciated. The circle begins one mile east of the Snake Bight Trail, or 0.7 miles west of the West Lake turnoff.
