It is unfortunate that this ani was reported so long after it was photographed, it looks to be a candidate for Greater. But as Carlos noted, it would be quite lost: they are rare even in Costa Rica. I have limited experience with them near Pipeline Road, Panama. The two I observed there for any amount of length stuck very closely to a waterway. This is there preferred habitat, and the Crandon ani was found near a pond. For the most part, Crandon Gardens is more open, not preferred by either Smooth-billed or Groove-billed. Lastly, Greater Anis tend to lean forward more often than the two other anis. This may mean very little as to it's identity, but perhaps worth mentioning.
This is defiantly a bird worth refinding for 2011 year list. Lets get at it.
