Strange, but since last Sunday, I've been seeing a red-tailed hawk in my neighborhood too. Never have I seen one in such an urban area either. It looks exactly like your picture (the red tail is not very obvious). It now shares the street with 3 resident cooper's and a little kestrel. They (and a shrike) take turns perching in a tall arjun tree across the street. The collared doves do come in handy! the area is SW 11 Terrace and 23rd avenue in Miami. There are also 2 r.t. hummingbirds.
