I realized after I posted that I had made a mistake. It was the NE corner of the main marsh. Where the water meets the grass/weeds. I saw about 4 of them. My first one was flying about and was going to land on the other side of the embankment just east of the main marsh but saw me and left elsewhere. There was one standng in the grass where it meets the water in the N.E. part of the marsh right before the attack by the hawk. When the hawk caught its prey it just stood there a few feet away so I guess it was lucky. I did notice 2 more snipes, which I hadn't originally seen, fly out when the hawk attacked so I don't know if the hawk caught a snipe unseen by me or one of several yellowlegs at the same spot. The ones that flew away dropped close by into the grass at the very NE part of the marsh. I also rarely get good views of snipes. This was my best view but it was cut short by the hawk attack. Good Luck!
