While supposedly "going to the grocery store," I sneaked over to Baggs and found the Nashville Warbler in the same general area as on Sunday. It, and a very gray Orange-crowned Warbler are co-dependents.

Park in lot closest to lighthouse and enter the Pond (interior) Trail at its southern end. Just a few yards is a juncture with a restricted trail. This is the corner it favors and can be seen in Strangler Figs on either side of the trail. The flock has a large feeding loop, so patience is needed if they are not in the immediate area.

Sift through the flock carefully because I've glimpsed a largish warbler with wing bars and a hint of yellow. As it flew away from me, it gave a buzzy "tizz" similar to Blackpoll. Family units are arriving by the truckload, so I don't have time to scrutinize the flock.

Please note: Do not enter the restricted areas; the DEP officer is vigilant and has _no_ plans to become your new best friend.

A light phase Short-tailed Hawk was kiting over Crandon Beach yesterday. Adult Great and Lesser Black-backed Gulls are on both Rickenbacker bridges.
