Speaking of the way people use the Nature Center, here is a new one. As I was leaving, this guy comes in with what looked like a bow and arrow.
The bow was thick, and painted in beautiful red and yellow stripes. It was strung with a rather thin gauge string or wire. Near one end was mounted a ceramic bowl of some sort, also painted in the red and yellow striped motif. If the bow was a fishing rod, the bowl would be where the reel would sit, although on top, not below. In his other hand he carried a short arrow-like thing with fletching at one end.
I was about to report the guy for hunting birds, but decided to watch him instead. He proceded through the gate and went onto the boardwalk where it is flat and open. He then began to pluck or twang at the bowstring with the "arrow", making some kind of primitive musical sound. I thought this was some ploy to bring birds into range until he began to chant and walk around in circles. It appeared to be a ritual of some sort, for which he was just seeking a secluded spot. It was actually quite beautiful, sort of Tibetan. I left him alone. You couldn't hit anything smaller than a cat with that arrow, anyway.
