Why is everyone always trying to turn Common Yellowthroats into something other than a Common Yellowthroat? I know I too often get tempted to turn a common bird into some out-of-place mega rarity, but by now we should all know the drill when it comes to Common Yellowthroat. So, to help avoid this problem in the future, here's a list of past attempts to turn Common Yellowthroats into something else:
Common Yellowthroat to Virginia's Warble: understandable, but we've already debated this one.
Common Yellowthroat to Nashville Warbler: OK, we can see why, but again, already debated.
Common Yellowthroat female to female Mourning Warbler: most common mistake after the infamous Spot-breasted to Hooded Oriole issue. Very understandable, but female Mourning would have different yellow underneath and more of a graying hood.
Common Yellowthroat to MacGillivray's Warbler: You know, you should get credit for this if you CAN spell MacGillivray's correctly!
Common Yellowthroat male to Bahama Yellowthroat: guess what, it's the same species. Next!
Common Yellowthroat to Yellow-breasted Chat: Hey, if all you get is a quick look of black-white-yellow in the brush....why not?
Common Yellowthroat to Great Kiskadee: OK, somewhat tempting at first, but isn't there a size thing going on here?
Common Yellowthroat to Bachman's Warbler: I only wish.
Common Yellowthroat to Common Greenshank: I'll have what he's having!!
If anyone can think of others, please, your input is greatly appreciated.
