Yes, we all know that birds can be refered to by the first two letters of their first and last names, but come on, guys, there are over 900 species in North America. The time it takes readers to figure out that STFL means scissor-tailed flycatcher, and VEFL is vermilion flycatcher is longer than it would take for you to just type out the names! Using all those computer-based abbreviations may be cool, but it can also be inconsiderate.
