Wil and Jody Domke, Dotty Robbins, Rafael Galvez, Angel and Mariel, Jack Bauer, and myself, anxiously awaited the return of the Bar-tailed Godwit (nominate lapponica). Unfortunately, the bird was a no-show. The bird had not been seen since Toe and Trey last saw it take flight. Larry Manfredi arrived shortly after that and searched to no avail.

No Jetty-Jinx this time. The word around Flamingo was that some birder (I won't name this birder but let me just say his name begins with the letter "T" and rhymes with "Oh") bribed the godwit with money, persuading it to leave the premises.

Nonetheless, we were rewarded with excellent views of several shorebird species: Whimbrel (hudsonicus), Willet (western inornatus), Short-billed Dowitcher (griseus), Marbled Godwit, Dunlin, Black-bellied Plover, and Ruddy Turnstone.

Dotty Robbins will try again for the bird tomorrow, as I'm sure other birders will too...perhaps even me.

P.S. Jack Bauer wasn't there...I was just kidding. If he happened to be there, I don't think it would've been to see birds.
