It's actually my neighbors tree and he is the one who sees the bird every morning. I asked him to describe it and showed him pictures of red-headed, red-bellied and pileated. He denied it looking like any of those and tells me there is no red on the head that is that noticible and describes it as "mostly grey all over". There was a photo he showed me on his cell phone which didn't have much detail but the bird was definately large like a flicker. It's my best guess without actually laying eyes on it.....yet!
