You must be further north than me, way up there above the Card Sound and Jewfish Creek Bridges... I haven't seen a downy in Key Largo this year, but as cold as it got, I will bet that was due to too much time in the office rather than them not coming this far south. It varies a bit every year, but when I do see downy woodpeckers here is usually January through March.
