Bad weather hit Cape Florida this morning in time to force migrating warblers down. Birds started coming off the ocean ~8 AM and continued until 9:40, when heavy rain started. The fallout seemed moderate but blossomed after the rain stopped and by 11 AM, it was a true fallout. Numbers were spectacular and species diversity was represented by Caribbean-wintering birds. In addition to large numbers of Northern Parula (>400), Common Yellowthroat (170), Prairie (52), Palm (80) and Black-and-white (18), there were Yellow-throated (12) Louisiana Waterthrush (5) and Cape May (4). Larry found a Swainson's Warbler on the paved bike path between the restaurant and bathrooms.

The La Sagra's Flycatcher put in a brief, but silent appearance at 11:20, just southwest of the white gate.

Some wintering birds are still in place, such as Least Flycatcher, Blue-headed Vireos, banded Magnolia Warbler, Painted Buntings and Eastern Phoebes. Little Blue Herons and Great Egrets were migrating over the park in small flocks.
