It would be not only unusual but unprecedented for Florida if it were in fact a Common Snipe, a Eurasian species. Snipe in North America are now called Wilson's Snipe; they were split from Common Snipe several years ago. They are relatively common winter visitors to wetland areas such as Green Cay.
