The Florida race of Grasshopper Sparrow, Ammodramus savannarum floridanus, has a very restricted range in central Florida dry prairie, where it is a permanent resident. The birds you saw at Lucky Hammock were most likely of the eastern race, A.s. pratensis, a winter visitor to south Florida. Its breeding range extends south to central Georgia.
