This afternoon we birded the nature preserve on campus and found one male Blue Grosbeak. The birds plumage has started to undergo its prenuptial molt, we hope the bird sticks around long enough to see it in all its glory. In the same area where we saw the grosbeak we saw both buntings and your usual array of wintering warblers. Eight Cedar Waxwings were flying around the preserve today as well, first day we see them on campus this year. We also had great looks at a young male PABU who is starting to molt into its adult plumage, it was so cool to see all the colors coming in as they were pastel instead of vibrant; cool bird. We will hopefully get a shot of the bird so we can post it for you all. There was definitely an exchange in species composition around the preserve after the last cold front, tomorrow we will explore a little more.

Nature is Awesome
