I saw a probable Willow Flycatcher this afternoon at AD Barnes Park. I found it at about 4:00PM, and, after running back to my car to get my tape player, observed it off and on until about 5:15PM. It stayed almost continuously within the circular drive in front of the nature center. Raul, and his friends Albert and Larry were also at the park, and were able to get great looks at the bird.

Here's a description: The bird had distinct whitish wing bars, an olive back, white throat, dirty gray breast, and yellowish belly. It had a very indistinct eye ring. The wings had a short primary projection. The bill, with a yellow lower mandible, appeared large, too large for a Least Flycatcher. It did not have the large-headed appearance of a Least Flycatcher. Its forehead appeared flat.

The bird never called. I played the calls of Willow, Alder, Yellow-bellied, Least and Acadian Flycatcher. It responded only by occasionally flying to another perch. It also flicked it's tail occasionally.
