Yes, this is a Common Loon, It appears to be a juvenile as opposed to a non-breeding adult.
The mass and length of this loon separates it from Pacific and Red-throated Loons, which are rare but annual in some areas of Florida during winter (Pensacola, Franklin and Wakulla County, Jacksonville). The white collar is a great field-mark when dealing with darker Common Loons at a distance. Distance was not a problem for you though!
