Light Morph red-tailed Short-tailed Hawk

This buteo was circling lazily quite high over the West Miramar ESL this morning. The photo is rather heavily cropped and I lightened it up to show the red cast to the tail as it appeared to my eye through the binoculars. This threw me off for a moment, but lack of patagial marks, clear breast, darker secondaries and dark pinted primaries with light base all are consistent with Short-tail. I also have a couple of cropped but non-processed photos on FLCKR.
