Hallelujah!
I myself worked a bit more consistently this year for year birds and managed to see 301 species in Florida. One advantage to being in the Panhandle for school and visiting home in South Florida is obviously the birding.

Highlights of 2009:
Snow and Greater-White-fronted Geese, 23 species of duck (including Masked and White-winged and Surf in the same flock, Red-footed Booby, Neotropic and Great Cormorant, White-faced Ibis, all four kites, Virginia Rail, Greater Sand-Plover, Purple Sandpiper, Pomarine Jaeger, Glaucous Gull, both anis, Mangrove Cuckoo, Short-eared Owl, five nightjars, Rufous and Black-chinned Hummingbird, Hairy Woodpecker, La Sagra's Flycatcher, Tropical and Cassin's Kingbird, Winter Wren, Brown Creeper, 27 warblers, 16 sparrows (Green-tailed Towhee, Lark, Saltmarsh Sparrow), Bullock's Oriole, Rusty, Brewer's, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Shiny and Bronzed Cowbirds, and Pine Siskins.

With the 300 year off my shoulders and under my belt, here's to 2009, here's to the decade.

Now who wants to make a group effort for Yellow Rails with me on Jan 2 or 3?
