The phalaropes were circling on the water about 100 yards from the deck, close to the shore. I ID'd them on the grounds of their size and needlelike bills. Admittedly the were partially backlit by the sun at this time of day but they are the "common" phalarope on the west coast and I have some experience with them. The Eastern Kingbird gave me good long views. Again, I'm familiar with this bird. No flycatcher.
The reason I included these birds in my report is that I realise they are uncommon at this time of year in Southern Florida.
