Can't really compete with Bryant Roberts' report but I'll try to hit some highlights from two and a half days at Flamingo/Everglades.
Question: On the Bear Lake trail I saw about 5 all black birds, apparently from shape blackbirds (Icteridae) moving and calling actively in the tops of the tall trees in that area. The call was one I had never heard, and I never understood how books describe calls, but I will describe it as a creaky old door. All I can think is they were Common Grackle is some sort of courtship mode I've never seen. Any ideas? I have a weak photo should above not be sufficient.
Eco Pond from 7:00 to 8:00 AM is really active, especially on the first day I was there. Quite a few Spoonbill, and hundreds of white birds. One Avocet was seen.
About 100 White Pelican were on a sandbar near the visitor center.
At Flamingo I also saw the Barn Owl from afar, and heard a Great Horned Owl and an unidentified Nighthawk above my tent during the night.
My favorite photo was a simple one of an American Bittern at Anhinga Trail (link), but site has some Spoonbill and Red-shouldered Hawk photos that came out nice as well.
