Jeff Trotta and I canvassed the road to ENP a bit earlier than Steve (3:30pm?) and saw quite a lot of raptor activity, including Broad-winged Hawk, Short-tailed Hawk (quite low), a White-tailed Kite that flew over my head, many Harriers, Kestrals, Merlin, and a perched hawk whose photo I am studying, maybe a Sharpie. After Jeff left, it all quieted down, excepting the Harriers and a late-arrival Red-Shouldered Hawk.
I originally stopped my car on the side of the road to get better looks at what I thought were kingbirds but now, looking at my photos, appear to be immature Scissor-tailed Flycatchers.
It was great to meet more Florida birders on this trip. Tomorrow I return to NYC--where hopefully an Ivory Gull will be waiting across the river in NJ!
