Five intrepid birders visited Lucky Hammock late in the day on Sunday, hoping to duplicate Larry Manfredi's day yesterday.
The field on the north side of the road to ENP had harriers, but little else. All the action was in the fields around Lucky Hammock. We had two or three White-tailed Kites, at quite close range hovering and diving all around. There was one Short-eared Owl, at distance, but identifiable. The evening was capped by a dozen or so Lesser Nighthawks flying before a glorious sunset.
