Sid took these pictures this past Saturday in my yard in Davie. I had posted on the TAS Birdboard that I get a large number of Painted Buntings each year(on Saturday, I had ten at one time on the feeder and/or on the ground beneath it). Sid had requested permission to take some photographs, which after seeing his work, I gladly gave. I was thrilled with the pictures that he took Saturday and I am glad that he is sharing them on the TAS Birdboard.

I have asked Sid to return when the Eastern Screech Owls start nesting in my yard, which they have for the past three years.

I have been asked what I do to attract the Painted Buntings. I use a squirrel proof tube feeder from Central Garden & Pet, available at Walmart for $22.97 and Winn Dixie brand seed (they really like it). Place the feeder near some bushes and have a bird bath nearby for water. My feeder is only about five feet from the house and I can sit in my office and observe the Painted Buntings most of the day.
