Bill, sorry I took some time to reply. I have only gotten one report of purple swamphens in Miami-Dade County. That was at structure S-334 on Tamaimi Trail just west of Krome Ave in May 2006. There were no photographs, but the report was from a US Fish and Wildlife Service waterfowl biologist so I feel confident about the identification. All the rest of the reports in our database are from Broward County north.
