It's interesting that the Great Pondhawks you saw were heading south, the ones at Flamingo were all traveling directly into the east to northeast winds which lead me to wonder if that was determining factor for their direction of flight. I did a little math today based upon my observation that about five dragonflies were crossing a north-south line about a hundred yards long every second for a couple of hours during the late morning near the coast and that while the numbers thinned out a few hundred yard inland it was noticeable for over a mile inland that the daily movement of Great Pondhawks through Flamingo was conservatively in the fifty to one hundred thousand range.
