Seeing the scarcity of bird posts on the board, I thought I'd remind birders that we are in a period when the possibility exists to find some really good birds down here, if we get out and look. I will be out looking as I always do, but can't cover all the places all the time. Please be on the lookout for any of the following in Miami-Dade County, just FYI:

Greater White-fronted Goose
Snow Goose
Brant
Eurasian Wigeon
American Black Duck
Cinnamon Teal
White-cheeked Pintail
Canvasback
Redhead
Common Eider
Harlequin Duck
Surf Scoter
White-winged Scoter
Black Scoter
Bufflehead
Common Goldeneye
Masked Duck
Ruddy Duck
Red-throated Loon
Common Loon
Red-necked Grebe
Eared Grebe
Rough-legged Hawk (Larry is really optimistic about this one)
Golden Eagle
Yellow Rail
Black Rail
American Golden Plover
Glaucous Gull
Vermillion Flycatcher
Cassin's Kingbird
Fork-tailed Flycatcher
Horned Lark
Field Sparrow
Vesper Sparrow
Lark Bunting
Henslow's Sparrow
Le Conte's Sparrow
Nelson's Sparrow
Saltmarsh Sparrow
Song Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco
Lapland Longspur
Black-headed Grosbeak
Dickcissel
Rusty Blackbird
Brewer's Blackbird
Bullock's Oriole
Purple Finch
AND
Pine Siskin

*Disclaimer: Any resemblance between the list above and the birds Toe still needs for his county year is purely coincidental.
