Rough-legged Hawk is already on the Miami-Dade list. Click on the "Birds" tab on the TAS main page and scroll down, looking for the Local Checklists section on the left. Click Miami-Dade County to see everything that's been seen here. At the bottom is a list of most likely candidates. Eurasian Wigeon and Leach's Storm-Petrel were on this likely list, but were added in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Personally, I think the greatest chance of adding birds is with pelagics, condisering the paucity of effort offshore and the loss of habitat inland. Species like South Polar Skua, Black-capped Petrel, and Sabine's Gull most likely pass through our offshore waters at some time of year. Other possibilities are Long-tailed Duck, Pacific Loon, Northern Fulmar (one at Delray inland in Oct. 08), Iceland Gull, Little Gull, Slaty-backed Gull (seen in Key West a few years ago), Saw-whet and Long-eared Owl, White Wagtail (one seen last year in Marathon), Harris's Sparrow, and Lazuli Bunting, in addition to those on the most likely list.

Time to go find some birds!
