We headed down to the keys ahead of the front, which I have seen here and on the Eastern Shore of VA. produces a lot of raptors. Peregrine Falcons were everywhere at least 40 plus, 5 in one kettle. We clocked one going 33 m.p.h right outside our car window going over a bridge. SO COOL!! Other regulars but not in the same numbers-less than 10 each-Coopers, Sharp-shinned, Broadwing, Red-shouldered, Bald Eagle, Merlin and American Kestrel. Card Sound bridge was hopping with the Cuban "Golden" Yellow warbler coming right out with just a little phishing, along with Yellow-throated, Wilson's and N. Waterthrush and with a few others. At Key Largo-Port Bouganvilla, after a brief shower (front?) the silent coastal hammock came alive with Yellow-throated, White-eyed and Red-eyed Vireos, Baltimore Oriole, and a few more warblers including a small flock of 5 Ovenbirds. 10 warbles for the day.Ann Wiley attempted the rescue of a Double-crested Commorant who had hit a power wire, as we had planned to go to the Keys Bird hospital anyway. It died in her arms. We got close up views at warblers that had provided only brief looks earlier in the day. Stay focused on the target and you will see. Beautiful day.
