For those who have been here awhile, I've always called it by it's previous name of shame (the development it was going to be) Port Bouganvilla. Through a lot of effort for many years it was saved as the Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Preserve. TOO LONG a name, but fitting for such an amazing wonder of rare tropical trees and animals.
It is located on the Card Sound Road. almost to where it meets U.S. 1. I suggest you take the Card Sound road. It is far more scenic and has better chances for White-crowned Pigeons to fly over. But you can travel US 1 and turn left on the Card Sound Road and go north less than a half a mile. The gateway is on the east side. Fee required.
