The radar last night and this morning was impressive as large amounts of birds were migrating over Florida. We feel that the front coming across the southeast has a lot to do with last night s decision to fly, as well as north winds over much of the southeast. Over Miami there is an ESE wind blowing which means that inland locations look best for birding today but with as many birds moving there may be birds at all migrant traps here in Miami.
We birded for a bit this morning and heard lots of Thrush calls overhead with some Bobolink as well, thrush calls mainly consisted of Swainson's with some Gray-checked mixed in.
We had lots of Common Yellowthroats, a couple Tanagers, lots of Ovenbirds, B&W Warblers, one Acadian Flycatcher and one Flycatcher left unidentified, E. Wood-pewee, some Thrushes, one Veery, and Warblers moving through. It may be better later in the morning as birds were still in the air as late as 10:50 a.m. Good luck out there and have a great birding day.
Nature is Awesome
